Superstorm Sandy - Tuesday, October 30, 2012
I don't know about you, but I spent yesterday and this morning with an eye on the news, both worried for the people on the East Coast and grateful that I was all the way on the West Coast.
The anticipation of a coming "Superstorm" must have been incredibly stressful on everyone. Do you stock up and stay or do you pack up and go? If you go, what do you bring with you? If you stay, how much water, food & battery life is going to be enough? No matter what you decide, it could be just a bunch of hype that they media is pushing because they are tired of the same old election news and you could be doing it all for nothing.
Then the storm hits, the power goes out, the water comes in, the winds howl and if you've stayed you are wondering if you made the right decision. If you've left, you aren't sure what, if anything, will be left to go home to.
The reality that strikes when daylight comes must have been gut wrenching for so many. Where do you even start to clean up and rebuild what mother nature has so violently and thoroughly destroyed?
Many businesses will be closed for a long time, perhaps permanently. Many homes were completely wiped out or will need to be razed. Many people will be trying to just hold on financially, all while trying to pick up the pieces of what's been left by Sandy.
So, as we sit in our warm homes, safely on the West Coast, we wonder, what can we do to help?
The obvious answer of course is the Red Cross. Donations of both blood and money are being accepted there. Other options to consider are the Humane Society, or Feeding America. There are many neighborhoods that have started pages on Facebook to get the word out on specific needs, but being on the West Coast makes it a challenge to be of help. We are looking into ways that we can help and we'll keep you posted! If you think of a way that we can contribute to the relief and recovery of a family, small group or small business, let us know!
In the meantime, enjoy your heat and lights when you get home tonight. We've got it good!

Ritual's New Mascot - Friday, October 26, 2012
If you haven't been to Ritual recently, you have missed out! Ernie has joined the Ritual crew as part-time entertainment, part-time therapy dog and full time cuteness. He was born July 7th, 2012 and is a Yorkshire Terrior. He's a baby still, but he has learned a lot of tricks already, including "sit", "high five", lay "down" and "roll over" (most of the time). Come in and meet Ernie, he's always happy to meet new friends and say hi!
